Andy Worth took his new position as Board Chairman of Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority in July 2016 after serving in the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitor’s Authority since 2013. Wirth was in the company of three other new board members namely Jenifer Rose, Lisa Gianoli, and Jessica Sferrazza.
According to Andy, bringing in new people on the board was one way of fostering new ideas that can take the airport to a higher level. Wirth is experienced in international resort management and has worked with several airlines in developing more flights for various resorts in Canada, Utah, and Colorado.
He has played a significant role in the development of airports and air service for several resorts and communities from Quebec to Colorado. Andy Wirth was part of the team that was central to the establishment of air service from JFK airport to the Reno-Tahoe International Airport with the JetBlue service, as well as the Alaska Airlines service from locations such as John Wayne Airport.
During Wirth’s time in the RSCVA board, he was a liaison between the Reno-Sparks region and Lake Tahoe. Wirth noted that it was an honor for him to serve as Chairman of an institution he considers vital for the region’s economy. He has since shown his commitment towards enhancing air service considering how vital it is to the ski and gaming industry as well as the business community.
Earlier this year, Andy Wirth was elected Chairman and President of the Reno-Tahoe Regional Air Service Corporation, an entity that promotes air service into Reno-Tahoe International Airport. RASC is also responsible for identifying any new prospects for flights in the region.
Andy Wirth is the Chief Executive Officer of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings and has contributed significantly towards making the ski area among the top tourist destinations across the world. Squaw Valley Ski Holdings is the parent company to two ski resorts located in Olympic Valley, CA namely Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. Andy Wirth also co-founded the “Wounding Warrior Support, an Ironman team that helps in raising funds for the Navy SEAL Foundation. The organization honors the fine men of the Navy SEAL team through support to their families after they are back home.
